Leaders' Ramadan Messages

Prime Minister Scott Morrison shared a social media post celebrating Australian Muslims' holy month Ramadan, as allegations of racism against a 2007 campaign rival surfaces.

Allegations of bullying and racism against Morrison were first made by the retiring Liberal Senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells last week during her final speech in the house.

Fierravanti-Wells claimed under parliamentary privilege, which means she cannot be held liable in a court of law for what she had said, that Morrison made racial comments against then his rival Michael Towke suggesting that he was a "Muslim and could not be trusted".

Morrison has denied the allegations.

Another Lebanese-Australian member of the Liberal party, Michael Sukkar, came to his boss' defence with a statement on Twitter claiming that Mr Morrison was a big supporter of Lebanese-Australians.

Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, Alex Hawke has also released a statement congratulating more than 600,000 Australians of Islamic faith for the arrival of Ramadan.

Leader of the Oppostion, Anthony Albanese has also released a statement wishing Australian Muslims a joyous and prosperous Ramadan.
